On Saturday October 19th, Dartmouth Dems had a lunchtime stand out at the intersection of Route 6 and Slocum Road joined by other Harris supporters from the community. Despite the national division making itself known even in our modest coastal town, the overall energy was positive. We were excited to have an unseasonably gorgeous day to get the ‘Harris Hype’ going on Dartmouth’s first day of early in-person voting. (B. Vieira)

A Reflection by Betty Ussach-Schwartz
On a beautiful sunny autumn day, in the town of Dartmouth Massachusetts, a group of Harris-Walz supporters stood with campaign signs waving at passing cars.
Scores of car horns and thumbs up drove by signaling their approval of the Democratic ticket. Much less numerous were Trump supporters who screamed and obscenely gestured their disapproval.
It is indicative of the irrational anger and resentment that Donald Trump has fostered and encouraged since riding down the escalator in Trump Tower ten years ago. And just as his rhetoric has become more hostile, nasty, violent and normalized by the mass media, so have so many of his MAGA diehards adopted and transformed it into physically threatening behavior.
If a former President is given free reign to malign, denigrate and threaten various groups and individuals why wouldn’t his followers feel empowered to act in the same unrestrained hostile manner towards political opponents or anyone deemed “the other.”
Unfortunately, this is not a unique occurrence as the closer we come to Election Day the more incidents of intimidating behavior are being reported.
Demonstration of alignment with a particular party or candidate in a peaceful and respectable manner should never be subjected to obscenities and verbal or physical assault. And if not disavowed by political leaders is the next blow to democracy harassment at the polling place?
Why aren’t all the Dem State AGs bringing an action against X, SpaceX, Tesla and Musk for violating various privacy laws? Musk got access to all our social security and tax info and is sharing from many reports with private entities. He was on X reporting on some of his “findings”. Why can’t the DNC bring a class action law suit on behalf of the American people against Musk and his entities for this mass privacy violation?
